Antiques News & Fairs - The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair - 9 – 11 June 2023
James Miles Ltd - Robert Anning Bell for Della Robbia Pottery Pediment, £4,200.

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Connoisseurs, collectors and interior designers will be delighted to discover a superb collection of Decorative Arts - ceramics, glass, furniture and pictures from the late 19th and 20th century, enhancing this sector of the diverse display at The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the Great Yorkshire Showground from 9 – 11 June 2023.

Specialists Andrew Muir and James Miles will be showing a colourful range of pottery, porcelain and glass by artists and designers from across Europe including William Moorcroft, Piero Fornasetti, Clarice Cliff, John Ward, Charles Catteau, William de Morgan, Rene Lalique, William Mycock, the Martin Brothers and Rudolf Ditmar.

Among the many highlights will be a superb Daum winter scene glass decanter set from Andrew Muir dating from the early 20th century, rare pieces of signed Moorcroft pottery (shown here) and a rare Pre-Raphaelite pottery pediment for above a door by Della Robbia of Birkenhead, the design attributed to Robert Anning Bell (1863-1933). It will be shown by James Miles with a price of £4200.

Among the galleries showing will be Carnes Fine Art, specializing in 20th century and contemporary pictures among which will be two superb Parisienne pictures; a view of the Montmartre by Michel Delacroix (1933-), the artist often called the Lowry of Paris, priced at £29,500; and a view of the Place de la République by Edouard Cortès (1882–1969), on sale for £32,500 (shown here).

Also showing at the fair for the first time will be Philip Carrol Antiques from Gargrave, specialising in English pottery. Among local pieces will be a charming early Yorkshire Prattware pottery figurine, circa 1820, of a shepherdess, holding a basket, sand standing with a cow and its calf.
