Opus Antiques - A Rare Pictorial Puzzle - illustration’s of English History, priced at £880. This is a
illustrated puzzle of 24 important scenes in history from the landing of Caesar to the death of Richard lll,
by Edward Edlin. Underneath each scene is a description and date. The puzzle is complete, there are a few
kobles missing. It comes in its original box with also the colour pictorial guide sheet. The actual puzzle
measures 42cm w x 27cm h when built. The box measures 23cm w x14.5cm d.

Opus Antiques - A 19th century alphabet box with an inlaid bone tile with ABC inset on to the chamfered
lid, priced at £320.

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

The Cotswolds Decorative, Antiques & Art Fair returns to Westonbirt School from 31 March – 2 April with an exciting set of new exhibitors for Spring, including Sally Honey who trades as Opus Antiques and specialises in treen and small collector’s items. Among the highlights will be a pictorial puzzle from the 1820’s, illustrated with twenty-four scenes from English History, to be sold by new exhibitor .

The historic scenes shown in the pictorial puzzle, when assembled, range from the landing of Caesar to the death of Richard lll and underneath each is a description and date. The puzzle has its original box with the original colour pictorial guide sheet. It measures 42cm w x 27cm completed. A fine example of an unusual collectable of social history, it will be priced at £880.

The puzzle originates from the shop of Edward Edlin, turner and toy manufacturer of 37 New Bond Street in London, in the early 1800s. He was succeeded by Thomas Edlin, books and stationary seller.

Opus Antiques will also offer a 19th century alphabet box of 110 bone tile pieces, priced at £320. The box bears the old trade label of William Whiteley, Westbourne Grove, London, who started in business with a small shop and flourished to become a large department store selling clothing, millinery, and fancy goods.

Walker Galleries - Ferdinand Loyen Du Puigaudeau 1864-1930 Oil on canvas, signed and
further signed on the stretcher 181⁄2 x 24 in. Piced at £28,000.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

Expect to see fine art and antiques from the most traditional antique pieces to decorative antiques for the home and garden.

Organiser Sue Ede: "This is where people come to decorate and furnish their homes in their own personal style. Mixing and matching antique and contemporary with Mid-Century accessories, fine art, sculpture and furniture from the past centuries. The fair has something for everyone."

Collectors wanting a special treat will also find specialist jewellers offering fine traditional pieces and a range of 20th century glittering costume accessories.

The fair takes place in the atmospheric setting of Westonbirt House, now a prestigious school, occupying the Great Hall, Orangery and adjoining rooms.
