ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Heralding Spring in Bath, the celebrated Bath Decorative Antiques Fair returns to The Pavilion with a bevy of regular and debut exhibitors.

Expect to see English, French and Nordic antiques and design – large painted cabinets, exquisite model chateaux, chateau furniture, imposing cast iron urns and benches for the garden and conservatory, huge farmhouse tables, rustic oak furniture, refined cosmopolitan furniture for the City dweller, library furniture for the essential home office, architectural elements, lighting, luxurious antique textiles and rugs from Asia and the Levant, folk art, mirrors, early glass and English and Continental pottery with a broad range of art from period portraits to Modern & Contemporary by renowned artists.

Dealers in the decorative antiques trade have an innate decorator’s eye and know how to curate their stands to inspire visitors with ideas for their own space, both inside and out.  Garden ornament for use in interior projects as well as landscaping, will be a key focus for many.  On show will be crusty garden chairs and benches, huge olive jars, wirework tables, stone troughs, elegant jardinieres and planters and ironwork from exhibitors including Wharton Antiques, Linda North Antiques, Barrows Antiques, The Antique Gent, Elham Antiques, No 1 Lewes and Skye’s Place. This theme is not exclusive to specialist dealers and will drift across to other exhibitors who specialise in decorative antiques including Out of the Attic, Paul Drewett and Time Gone By.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

Country house furniture is enjoying a serious spotlight in the design world, teamed with Mid Century elements, the look is now!  Expect to see fruitwood dining tables, dressers and chairs, period occasional tables in exotic woods and beautifully foxed mirrors found by the dealers on the antiques hunt both in UK and Europe, including Desired Effect, King George Antiques, The Bath Chap.  The country house look is effortlessly teamed with C20th chairs, lighting and accessories by leading designers for a C21st relevant appeal by exhibitors Mary Hossack Antiques, DJ Green Antiques, Kore Purchase, Chapter II Antiques, The Thrifty Gent and William Morris Antiques.

Fine and decorative art is another key feature of the fair with a number of specialists appearing in 2023 including Granta Fine Art, Thomas Spencer Fine Art, Larkhall Fine Art and Anthony Hepworth showing art from C18th to C20th.

New for 2023 will be Bath based Visage Gallery Bath with a range of period Asian ceramics and Delftware with a striking accent of CMid art.

Bath has always celebrated the folk art genre and Hiscock & Shepherd will return with a stand decked to the ceiling with collectors’ and homemakers' gems including samplers, paintings, early pottery and glass and textiles.

The presence of Mid Century design has increased year on year at the fair and talented dealers Not Wanted on Voyage always manage to inspire with exceptional finds from the C20th including named designer furniture and lighting.
