Chester Decorative Antiques & Art Fair, the popular Northwest event returns to the Grandstand Pavilion at Chester Racecourse from 7 – 9 October 2022. The Grandstand at Chester Racecourse has been extensively refurbished in the past three years and now the fair will benefit from an additional exhibition room on the ground floor. The room will provide space for several exhibitors, now including F.E.Anderson from Welshpool, the well-known, will be returning with a fine selection of English and Welsh oak and country furniture. Also showing for the first time will be Gladwells Rutland, the fine art specialists who promise a range of 19th and 20th century works including pictures by the French impressionists. "We are delighted to be back," organiser Sue Ede of Cooper Events told ANF: "This fair has been running since 1989 and is very popular with collectors across the region. We provide a high-quality event with leading specialist dealers offering everything from traditional art and antiques to interior design pieces, jewellery, collector’s items and so much more." |
F.E.Anderson - A pair of 15inch George IV period globes by Newton's and Berry of 66 Chancery Lane,
London. They are set in three-splay mahogany stands and retain their original compasses.
Although made circa 1825 the globes are updated to 1838. The total width of the globes and
outer circle is 21 ins. Both globes and stands are in excellent condition, the stands are
lovely mahogany of Gillows quality. Priced at £26,500.

Among the regular returning dealers will be local Chester furniture specialist Mike Melody Antiques, Rowles Fine Art from Ludlow with fine late 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolours and sculpture, and Church Street Antiques from Altrincham with designer interior pieces including sofas and mirrors. Says Mike Melody: ‘Chester is our favourite fair. We’ve been exhibiting at the Racecourse for more than 25 years and it’s a great opportunity to catch up with old customers from across Cheshire and North Wales. I’ve been acquiring a great deal of top-rate stock and I’m looking forward to the autumn season.’ Prices range from less than £20 for small items of silver and unusual collectables to more than £50,000 for the finest works of art. The fair runs daily and includes a restaurant for light lunches and refreshments. |
