Antiques News & Fairs - The Giant Shepton Flea Market - 16 August 2020

Looking for art or signage then the Shepton Flea Market is the place to be !

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Six months after the last Giant ‘Shepton Flea’, the gates open for the grand return on Sunday, 16 August 2020.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be back!" said organiser Sue from S & P Fairs, who has been running this very popular event with her husband Peter Hodder and daughter Katie Ede for 20 years. "Our phones have been ringing off the hook with people wanting stalls. Stallholders and private sellers have been spending their months at home clearing out attics and garages. Now we are looking
forward to a flood of fresh stock at the fair. It promises to be a bonanza for collectors."

The Shepton Flea returns with more than 250 stalls, all outside. Visitors will find row upon row of stallholders as usual, but with greater space between each display.

Important note: Anyone wanting to be sure of their space can now reserve their pitch by telephoning the organisers in advance – usually stallholders are allocated a space when they arrive in the early morning.

Sue Ede: "We’ve studied all the latest guidelines and will be taking all the necessary precautions as of course we should."

The Shepton Flea started in 2001 after Sue Ede had spent more than 20 years running antiques fairs and markets across the country under her own name and with big exhibition companies. Sue recognised an opportunity to provide the West Country with an affordable one-day fair that combined a huge range of vintage and collectable pieces offered for sale by trade and private sellers.

"It was the combination of trade and private sellers that has made it such a success," explains Sue. "I never know who our private sellers are, but for trade buyers their presence is a powerful magnet. You just never know who and what’s going to turn up!"

The fair has also succeeded in attracting professional and occasional dealers from all over the country and abroad.
