STATEMENT FROM ORGANSER:

LAPADA - the Association of Art and Antiques Dealers, has confirmed that its annual fair, due to be held in Mayfair from 18 to 23 September, will be postponed until 2021. For the past 10 years, LAPADA has held the event in the prestigious setting of Berkeley Square and looks forward to returning in the near future.

LAPADA CEO, Freya Simms, comments “With the uncertainty still surrounding how live events can operate due to Covid-19, coupled with the strain it has put on our members’ retail businesses we do not feel it is appropriate to progress with plans for the LAPADA Fair this September.  It has been a difficult decision, but ultimately was unanimous by our board of directors, representing the interests of our members.  We are developing other ways to support our membership at this difficult time and believe that our efforts need to focus on the immediate needs of our members and the wider trade.”

EVENT: Belvoir Castle Antiques - Fest

STATUS: Cancelled

DATE: 4-5 July 2020

COMMENTS FROM ORGANISERCharlotte, Field Dog Fairs: Although the reasons are many and fairly obvious, it is my social and moral responsibility to act in the best interests of my stallholders and visitors (my Field Dog Family). This decision has been taken after much discussion and not one that has been taken lightly. This is not an issue solely of social distancing, but due to the nature of these events, it would be irresponsible of me, to advertise and encourage 1000s of people to attend events where there are 1000s of items on 100s of stalls, which have the potential to be picked up and handled by many people. At a time when limiting contact and hygiene is critical, particularly hand hygiene, asking visitors to wash their hands on entry to the event would become obsolete once they had visited the 1st stall. I will be working hard behind the scenes preparing for our other events and to happier healthier times for everyone. Be assured of my best intentions at all times.

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Arthur Swallow Fairs:

To all of our visitors, exhibitors and supporters,

Due to the unprecedented situation we find ourselves in we firstly want to say that as a small family-run business which supports small, independent businesses and traders we fully understand the impact the next few weeks/months will have on us all and our thoughts are with you. We know that trading at fairs generates valuable income and to have to cancel events is far from ideal, however we feel we have a responsibility to cancel our April events.

Whilst we are realistic and take the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff seriously we have to remain optimistic and will continue planning for the rest of our 2020 events and hope that the summer season of Decorative Home & Salvage Shows will kick-off at Ripley on 8thMay as planned.

We will continue to update you via our social media: Facebook @arthurswallowfairs, Instagram and Twitter @asfairs and over on our blog at asfairs.com.

Our thoughts go out to you all who have been affected by this unprecedented event. The health of our stallholders and loyal buyers is our absolute priority and I want to reassure you that we have been doing everything in our power to manage this very difficult situation. Newark (cancelled) 4th - 5th June. Next fair scheduled for 13 - 14 August 2020.

EVENT: The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair

DATES: 14-18 May 2020

STATUS: Cancelled

DATES: 29 September - 4 October

STATUS: Scheduled to take place subject to Government regulations

STATEMENT FROM ORGANISER: Jane Juran & Darren Hudson:

We have been closely monitoring the unfolding of the global coronavirus situation, and the steps government is taking to try and control this.

Current predictions are that the epidemic in this country will peak during May, when our Spring 2020 Fair is scheduled to take place from 14-18 May.  To run the event would endanger our exhibitors, our team and our visitors, and we are not prepared to take those risks, even if it were permitted.  We have therefore taken the decision that we must cancel the Spring event.

This is the first fair in 35 years we have had to cancel and we are desperately disappointed.  We would like to thank our wonderful exhibitors for their support, and we look forward to presenting the Autumn fair from 29 September to 4 October 2020.

EVENT: Grandma's Attic Wimborne

EVENT: The Open Art Fair

STATUS: Going ahead

DATE: 18-24 March 2020

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Thomas Woodham Smith

Following the Prime Ministers announcement that large events can go ahead I can confirm that the fair will proceed as planned. Exhibitors who have health issues or relatives with health problems may not attend but over 90% have said they will be putting their best feet forward.

We feel this fair is important as a statement to the art world that we can and must continue to trade. Wisely, judiciously but above all we must continue. The fair is in a tent with high ceilings and plenty of ventilation, our new layout gives the dealers greater depth to their stands which means more physical separation.

Finally to enhance our digital presence we have a virtual tour featuring every stand which will be available 2 days after the opening. Not to deprive physical visitors of the first bite of the cherry. We are not charging exhibitors for this.

EVENT: Chelsea Antiques Fair

STATUS: Cancelled

DATE: 18-20 March 2020

COMMENTS FROM ORGANISER: Caroline Penman: I am sorry to have to take this decision at such a late stage but many exhibitors have contacted me and I have decided that the fair cannot go ahead. Dates have been reserved for the next Chelsea Antiques Fair: 17 - 21 March 2021.

EVENT: Cotswolds Decorative Art & Antiques Fair

EVENT: Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Art Fair

STATUS: Re-scheduled

EVENT: The Buxton Decorative Antiques & Art Fair

STATUS: Currently under review

DATE: 2-5 July 2020

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Sue Ede, Cooper Events:

Dozens of dealers exhibit every year with Cooper Events and we feel a strong sense of responsibility to ensure trade and business must continue and we will re-open our events as soon as we are able.

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Surrey Antiques Ltd:

Following the UK Government’s continued public health guidance regarding the avoidance of  large gatherings, crowded places and non-essential travel, it is with regret that we have to inform our loyal supporters that our antiques fair at Kempton Park Racecourse, which was scheduled for Tuesday 12 May, is postponed.  Our primary concern is the health and wellbeing of yourselves, family, friends and the general public. EVENT: The Worcestershire Antiques Fair

DATES: 24 - 25 October 2020

STATUS: NEW VENUE This fair which is normaly held at the Chateau Impney Hotel will now be held at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford, Worcester. WR6 5JD.

EVENT: Ludlow Racecourse Antiques Fair

DATES: 6 - 7 June 2020

STATUS: Postponed

COMMENT FROM ORGANISER: Two C's Antiques Fairs:

The Bank House Hotel is not as large as the Exhibition Centre at the Chateau Impney but has a seperate good size room which can accommodate approximately 40 x 12ft stands and three small furniture pitches.  Next year there is also another ground floor room in the Hotel itself which would be available but unfortunately this is already booked out on our dates in October which we would like to keep.  24th/25th Ocotober 2020. It has a large Car Park and good level unloading although we would probably need to stagger unloading times. For those wishing to stay at the Hotel it boasts a Spa, Swimming Pool, Contemporary Dining and an 18 hole Golf Course. As soon as we have more details we will be in touch.  This is of course if Events have been given the all clear by then.
