Scarab Antiques - 1969 Boulder Opal & Silver Gilt Ring

 This is a very distinctive & dramatic ring and very typical of its period! Made in 1969 in silver gilt it has a large abstract shaped polished boulder opal in the centre held in multiple silver gilt organic fingerlike claws above a broad organic textured silver gilt shank. The ring is hallmarked by the London Assay Office for 1969. Price £345.

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Celebrate the winter season with art, antiques, jewellery, sculpture, Mid-Century and decorative period pieces at the Art & Antiques for Everyone Fair at the NEC, Birmingham from 28 November – 1 December 2019.

"This is the fair for anyone who collects antiques, wants to decorate their home in style and, with Christmas in view, find a unique gift for a loved one." says organiser Dan Leyland.

Art & Antiques for Everyone presents around 200 specialist dealers offering for sale a huge variety of desirable pieces. With prices from less than £20 to more than £20,000, there is something for the most discerning buyer and first-time collector.

The new owners of venerable 3 times a year fair, MAD Events, are expanding the range of exhibitors and attracting some leading names in the decorative trade including Fontaine Decorative who will make their debut this time.  Other leading specialists in their field will be Rowles Fine Art, Cambridge Fine Art, Granta Fine Art, Ellis Fine Art and Haynes Fine Art. Decorative Arts specialists include Morgan Strickland, M&D Moir, Hickment Fine Art and James Miles Decorative Arts
18th, 19th and 20th century jewellery, including many eye-catching vintage handbags and costume pieces inspired by the Hollywood designers of the 1920’s and 30’ will be on show from Scarab Antiques, Plaza, Dansk Silver, T Robert and Shapiro & Co. Folk Art and collectibles are a strong theme at the fair from long term regulars Hiscock & Shepherd and T&M Kelly.

Hemswell Antiques Centre, the largest antiques centre in Europe, will be representing their exhibitors with a stand at the fair where visitors can learn all about this enormous antiques village sited on a former RAF base in Lincolnshire.

The Christmas shopping season is on the horizon and the fair has plenty to inspire for difficult to buy for men! Fabulous designer watches, cufflinks, tie pins, silver hip flasks, Art Deco drinks cabinets, cocktail shakers, vintage leather luggage, 1920’s Peaky Blinders flat caps and treasures from the Grand Tour qualify as desirable ‘Mantiques’.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

Judith Miller, known as the The Queen of Antiques, will be celebrating her 40 year reign at the Winter Fair and ANF would like to congratulate this hard working member of the trade, author of countless books across so many antiques related topics, editor of the famous Miller's Antiques Guides and regular specialist on TV, notably on BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. Judith began collecting in the 1960s while a student at Edinburgh University. She has since become one of the world’s leading experts in antiques & collecting and known worldwide for the authoritative Millers Guide books and price guides. Always so approachable, Judith will be presenting expert talks on collecting throughout the fair to the delight of her packed audience.

With more than ten thousand visitors expected over four days, the fair has the unique appeal of bringing together dealers from all levels of the antiques world: dealers with galleries in London’s West End showing their finest works; to occasional dealers with a passionate desire to buy and sell all kinds of unusual items from early toys and dolls to vintage fabrics, unusual memorabilia and rare scientific instruments. The fair presents exhibitors in a variety of settings – experts with a stand showing their latest acquisitions to professionally lit room-set style displays designed to inspire.


At recent NEC fairs, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Scandinavian works of art have all proved extremely popular, while Mid-Century Modern, 20th Century works of art selected contemporary pieces have broadened the fair’s appeal to younger collectors. The fair continues to offer a fantastic range of traditional antiques, from Asian art and artefacts, fine art, early pottery, designer lighting, classic English town and country furniture, fine porcelain to 18th and 19th century glass, bronzes, silver and jewellery.
