ABOUT THIS FAIR: |
At this year’s Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, some live demonstrations and talks have been added to the visitor attractions at the fair. The fair opens from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 January 2023. The Antiques Dealers’ Fair Limited has supported the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) for a number of years through its fairs. This time, there is the opportunity to meet and talk to the future of British craftsmanship at the Mayfair event, as four QEST scholars are exhibiting and some are demonstrating their crafts on the QEST stand. |
QEST Poppy Field - Poppy is a sculptor who works from life, under natural north light, modelling her
figures in clay and casting them in bronze. In parallel with commissioned works, Poppy is working on
a series of life-size figures to create an empowering iconography for young women. Her ambition is
to create demographic and topical bronze figurative sculpture for public spaces.
WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR: |
On Thursday 12 and Friday 13 January: Poppy Field, whose sculpture of the late Queen and Prince Philip is scheduled to be erected at the Royal Albert Hall in 2023, will be sculpting with clay together with Gordon Robertson showing his pewter and metalwork creations. At the weekend, Susannah Weiland is demonstrating her unique embroidery on leather and Sarah Baldi will discuss her bookbinding innovations. In addition, new exhibitor W. Shanshan 珊然軒, expert in ancient Asian pottery and sculpture, has signed up to join The Mayfair Antiques & Fine Art Fair for the first time. During the four days of the fair, Dr Shanshan Wang will be hosting daily talks at 2pm on the stand:
