ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Refurbished and ready to receive a starry array of exhibitors in May 2020, the architectural gem that is Buxton Pavilion stood empty along with so many other landmark venues across the UK, and leading members of the events industry, including Sue Ede of Cooper Events, were left rudderless as the Covid pandemic hijacked their fairs.  Now with a Government roadmap in place giving a date for the re-opening of indoor events, Sue Ede wasted not one moment and leads the way as she races back in the game with 2 of her signature events.

First out of the gate is the Annual Buxton Antiques Fair 20-24 May 2021, swiftly followed by the Pavilions of Harrogate Antiques & Fine Art Fair 11-13 June.

Buxton is now its 55th year, and is a premier event at the best of times but with an exhibitor roster beating down the door to return to normal life, it certainly promises to be a vintage edition in 2021.  The full exhibitor list will be announced shortly but Sue has released a few names to tease us -  W R Harvey Antiques, Freya Mitton 20th Century British Art, Stephen Kalms Antique  Silver, Peter Bunting Antiques, Garret & Hurst, Rowles Fine Art, Sheldon Shapiro and Roger DeVille.  Expect to see a diverse and tempting offering from these dealers who have been saving stock for this event.

Sue Ede told ANF: "We have all been through hard times during this pandemic and isolation from our friends and family has certainly been  very hard to bear.  Those of us in the antiques industry do not really make a distinction between work and play in many ways attending a fair is like meeting up with all your friends and we are so looking forward to returning to our regular events and meetng up with everyone again.  We anticipate a huge pent up demend from the public and collectors and expect a special atmsphere at Buxton this year.  We always aim to offer a wide range of high quality, authenticated antiques and works of art from the past three hundred years. It’s a 4 day event where everything is vetted for quality so our visitors can expect to make purchases safe in the knowledge that they are buying genuine pieces, whether they cost £25 or £25,000."

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

Buxton Pavilion in the famous spa town in the heart of the Peak District, is a destination venue and the fair has always been a major fixture in the calendar. Cooper Events took over the fair in 2009 and mounted a successful relaunch of this long running event.

The venue lends itself to a safe environment with the high domed roof and windows which now, following the grand scale refurbishment in 2019, will be thrown open to allow fresh air to travel around the building.  Special attention has been given to the appropriate spacing and all other government regulations regarding Covid restrictions in force at the time.
