Freya Simms - CEO LAPADA

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Freya Simms as Chief Executive. Many of you will already know Freya and I hope you will feel, as I do, that she will be an excellent leader of the association as it enters its next phase of development.

With a wealth of experience in the art, antiques and heritage sector, Freya is ideally placed to build upon the work of the association and the support it offers members. She will also oversee and develop our dedicated team as we prepare for the Berkeley Square Fair in September.

Beginning her career in the art market as press officer for Christie’s Fine Art, in the intervening years Freya has also worked in-house for both Bonhams and Sotheby’s. On the agency side, Freya worked at Cawdell Douglas before returning to agency life eight years later at Focus PR, where she was an Associate Director working across art and luxury brands including the Fine Art and Antiques Fair at Olympia, The British Luxury Council, The Affordable Art Fair, Clarion Retail and Ceramic Art London.

It was from there that she was recruited by her client Clarion in 2005 to be Fair Director, managing all aspects of the renowned Art and Antiques fairs portfolio held at the Olympia Exhibition Centre. Freya founded Muse, the communications consultancy for the arts, luxury and design sectors, which won the PRCA Award for Consumer Campaign of the Year in 2012 and the Queen’s Award for Excellence in Enterprise in 2014. She is also a Board member of PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market).

Freya will be working with the office team throughout the coming month, before officially taking up the role on the 5th of June.
