ABOUT THIS FAIR:

The eagerly awaited Winter Decorative Fair will look at a new perspective on how today's interiors can be enhanced with Gothic design, which, contrary to its modern-day dark and moody connotations, originated as light, delicate and highly decorated grandeur.

The foyer display, a C21st fantasy-laced interpretation of Gothic design, takes inspiration from Strawberry Hill House (built by Horace Walpole, born 1717) and Jane Austen’s ‘gothic’ novel Northanger Abbey (published 1817). Typical elements of gothic decoration on display will include pointed arch and lancet windows, slender columns, trefoil and quatrefoil tracery, leaf and fleur-de-lys (and later heraldic) motifs, which featured heavily in English and European interiors from the C13th onwards. Visitors will also enjoy period examples of gothic design refreshed with modern styling, such as carved and decorated furniture, mirrors and architectural elements.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

Around 145 exhibitors will be taking part, displaying collections that range from the practical or the statement piece, through to the eccentric and the purely elegant. Items for sale date from C17th up to the 1970s, covering every era of style and craftsmanship.  Visitors will find a broad range of furniture (fine, formal, country and decorative antique, art deco and mid-century designs) lighting, accessories (mirrors, glassware, ceramics, treen), collectors’ items, jewellery, textiles and art.

The Decorative Fair welcomes an exciting new bedfellow this year with the relocation of LARTA - The London Antique Rug & Textile Art Fair, to the Mezanine floor at the purpose built Evolution marquee in Battersea Park.  The move to Battersea is clearly a popular one with almost the double the number of exhibitors over 2016 at 20.  See our preview of LARTA.

New exhibitors at the Winter Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair include Antiquesbr relocated from Spain to the antiques hub of Tetbury, Anthony Fell Antiques, Patch Rogers and Sjostrom Antik.

The event attracts such highly respected and sought-after names from the world of interior design as Rose Uniacke, Max Rollit, Edward Hurst and Rose Tarlow, and UK decorators and trade buyers including Nina Campbell, Rita Konig, Charlotte Crosland, Guy Goodfellow, Soho House, Candy & Candy and Veere Grenney.
