Andrew Lineham Fine Glass - Blue Casket by Moser

ABOUT THIS FAIR:

The National Glass Fair, which takes place twice a year, in May and November, at the prestigious and renowned venue of the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull, attracts glass aficionados and collectors across the trade and public domains and the organisers always offer a unqiue exhibition to complement the eye popping glass displays.

Organiser Paul Bishop of Specialist Glass Fairs told ANF:

We strive to offer a good mix of both antique, collectable and contemporary pieces as we believe it is important that as many genres of glass as possible are represented in all of their diverse and fascinating forms. The malleability of glass allows for limitless creativity, and artists and artisans through the years have produced a wide variety of items from the practical to the purely decorative, from jewellery to paperweights, and figurines to exquisite drinking vessels."

Around 80 specialist exhibitors will stand together with industry experts in all types and periods of glass.

An original vase by renowned contemporary glassmaker, Norman Stuart Clarke

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

A special exhibition of the work of well-known comtemporary glassmaker, Norman Stuart Clarke, will also take place in Hall 1.

At 73 years of age, Norman Stuart Clarke is probably Britain's oldest working glass artist. During his formative years Norman's only desire was to be an artist and throughout his career this passion has pushed him to develop a range of distinctive styles and techniques. The creativity evident Norman's work has arguably made him one of Britain's leading glass artists. Norman's influence and reputation is unsurpassed and he has worked alongside, taught and mentored many of Britain's top studio glass artists.

Norman Stuart Clarke: "Working with the hot flowing glass is a transcendental experience. The conscious and unconscious merge in timelessness and a vessel is created, glowing and pulsing like a new born star."
