WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

First time exhibitors include King George Antiques from Sussex, specialising in decorative furniture, lighting and mirrors, Skyline Antiques from Wiltshire, specialising in C20th glass, including R. Lalique, Daum and Parian ware, and David Stoddart of Black Ink Masterprints from the Cotswolds, specialising in original signed prints by famous C20th artists including Picasso, Miro, Egon Schiele, Ben Nicholson and Marc Chagall.

Many regular exhibitors will be returning to this event. W. R. Harvey Antiques, specialists in the Georgian and Regency periods, will be presenting pieces for the drawing-room, dining-room and study. Candice Horley from Twentieth Century Glamour will be showing vintage 1950’s handbags and 1920’s-70’s sparkling costume jewellery with signed pieces from names such as Trifari, Dior, Miriam Haskell, Joseff, Monet and Marcel Boucher. Fu Ts’ang Lung Oriental Antiques will have a range of Chinese and Tibetan carvings, bronzes, drawings and works of art. Shapiro & Co., specialists in late C19th and early C20th European and Russian collector’s pieces, will be displaying fine quality Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau silver. Brieve Antiques and Plaza, amongst many others, will represent the jewellery and silver section of the fair.

Bristol dealer Brian Ashbee, a regular exhibitor, will be bringing a recently acquired collection of the Art & Crafts period, colourful Burmantofts pottery, ranging from around £60 to £1,500.  He commented; ‘Burmantofts is a neglected area of collecting. It has a fascinating history, it’s very colourful, interesting and wonderfully decorative. And with pieces from £60 upwards, it’s very affordable and looks stunning in a modern setting despite being over 100 years old. While the Burmantofts output never matched that of Moorcroft, William de Morgan or later makers like Clarice Cliff, so the appeal to collectors is often that much stronger.”

Returning after an absence of a few years is Neptune Fine Art, who will be selling a collection of extremely rare drawings by L. S. Lowry, including a fine pencil drawing of Ardens Farm in Cheshire (circa 1930) with five-figure price ticket, and a charming doodle drawing in felt tip pen done by Lowry while he was on the telephone.
