The chequer banding is typical for pieces from the Cheshire area. Circa 1730. Priced at £2750.

The Chester Antiques Fair in the Grandstand, Chester Racecourse, 8 – 11 February 2018 will be keeping the pace up during the busy winter antiques fairs calendar with a good mix of stylish period and decorative antiques and all kinds of rare and unusual antique Art Deco and 20th century sculptures and paintings.

Gemma Redmond Vintage - 1920s Celluloid and Velvet Evening Bag. Featuring a whimsical and colourful design, this rare example of a celluloid frame bag was created in France in the 1920s. Unusual for a bag of this type and delicacy, it is in pristine condition and appears almost unused. Priced at £450.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

The exhibitors will be enticing visitors with romance on their mind with a range of pieces for Valentine’s Day gifts including gem-set designer jewellery, watches, vintage cocktail and evening dresses, mid-20th century costume jewellery and personal accessories.

Forty specialist dealers take part, taking over the three floors of the Racecourse Grandstand,
several transforming the top floor boxes into room set displays. Many are members of the
LAPADA and BADA, the leading trade associations and
exhibits with price tags ranging from £20 - £25,000 are are inspected by the Vetting Committees for quality and authenticity. The Chester Antique Fair has been running since 1989.
