ABOUT THIS FAIR:

Now in its 28th year, the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair is now a hybrid of part-traditional decorative antiques, and part super chic metropolitan style, combining period works with contemporary art, with quality and rarity being the key to this consistently popular event.

The Fair will be held at the Pavilion, a much-loved spot on the Bath landscape, a couple of minutes walk from the City, famed for its many acclaimed restaurants and bars.

Top trends to look for this year include CMid design, Industrial Chic, Swedish painted furniture, rustic and refined Country House pieces, French country textiles and the return of some of the decorative staples of the 1990s – French faux bamboo and lacquer furniture, marble top consoles, buffets and tables in fruitwood, big farm tables, brass and iron baker’s racks and chocolatier’s tables, confit pots et al and who knew that walking canes could be so cool?

Around 45 exhibitors will be in attendance, with a core group of loyal exhibitors returning year upon year, including Chris Holmes Decorative Antiques, John Shepherd & Erna Hiscock, Life England, Linda North, Not Wanted on Voyage, Scandinavian by Design, Mike Chugg Decorative Antiques, Wharton Decorative Antiques, John Wiseman Reclamation & Salvage Antiques, Waterfall Antiques, William Morris Antiques, Guy Dennler Antiques, Michael Holt Antiques, Paul Burnett Decorative Antiques, Paul Drewett Decortive Antiques and Candice Horley C20th Glamour.

Held in the early Spring each year, the fair is a destination event for collectors of antiques and decoration for the garden and conservatory and ready to tempt this year will be new exhibitor Elizabeth Lee Interiors from nearby Frome, regular exhibitors Linda North from Norfolk and Branching Out Antiques from Kent.

Other new exhibitors for 2017 include Mark Blower Antiques from The Channel Islands, Vagabond Antiques & Decor, and La Place Antiques, both from Sussex, Kore Purchase Decorative Antiques and Catherine Waters Decorative Antiques, both Tetbury, Brookhouse Vintage, Bath, Granta Fine Art, Cambridge and The Swedish Room, Hungerford, Berkshire.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

The fair boasts one of the most popular trade previews in the UK with a queue winding round the building up to the main road. Seasoned trade visitors know that Bath exhibitors are not on the fairs circuit and save stock for this fair.

On Friday 3 March, visitors can experience an exciting antiques industry celebrity tour of the Fair by ‘The Queen of Antiques’ Judith Miller, who will choose ‘Judith’s Top Picks for Collectors’.

On Sunday 5 March, the event will take place on the same day as BathVA and a blogging group from Bath based Martini Mum will join Edd Thomas of Edd in the Clouds at both events for a ‘Style Up Bath’ tour of the Bath Decorative Fair, to continue in the afternoon at BathVA. Edd, who is also the chairman of the celebrated Antiques Young Guns.  Edd will be inspiring the young bloggers to look at antiques in a new way, to think about a ‘century mash up’ - making antiques relevant by mixing with contemporary, antiques and vintage pieces on sale at both fairs.

Both tours will be covered and video streamed in real time on social media.
