Sevres box Harrogate Antiques Fair

Antiques by Design from Staffordshire - Stunning blue Sevres porcelain dresser box piece with bronze ormolu mounts, dating to 1900-1911.

Marked MP for Paul Millet and Sevres, within a dotted circle, this mark was in use circa 1911. Designed by Paul Jean Milet, son of Felix Optatus Milet. Optat Milet began his career as a modeller for Sevres in 1862 and opened his own ceramics factory in 1866. Price: £450







Held 3 times a year in the elegant Spa town of Harrogate, the event is now the largest of the prestige fairs of its kind in Yorkshire hosting more than 50 exhibitors from across the UK.

Organised by Cooper Events who also own the 2 highly successful Bath and Bruton Decorative Antiques Fairs, this long established event has undergone a gradual rebranding from a traditional antiques fair and now offers a multi faceted event with a decorative flavour and a concentration of art dealers across the panoply of both period and Modern and Contemporary Art whilst retaining a core of traditional antiques dealers so that visitors can envision how to mix up the centuries in their homes with expert advise from a variety of knowledgeable dealers. 


Mark Buckley Antiques

Mark Buckley Antiques Ltd - A Burr walnut inlaid baby Sutherland table. The D shaped top is beautifully veneered in burr walnut with marquetry  floral inlaid detail and raised on beautifully turned and carved end columns.

A number of exhibitors will show paintings from the local area and Harrogate based Sutcliffe Gallery will be showing an important work by Bertram Priestman, (1868-1921) Sunset in West Riding’, shown, depicting Lockwood Viaduct, Huddersfield, which was once exhibited at the Royal Academy. The artist influenced Edward Seago and his work has been very much under-appreciated but is now very much in demand.

Other galleries showing at the fair include Rowles Fine Art from Ludlow, specialising mainly in Modern British paintings, E.Stacy-Marks from Yorkshire with a wide range of 19th and 20th century oils, Blackbrook Gallery from Leicestershire, specialising in farm animal portraits, Granta Fine Art showing C20th Art, British and European oil paintings and drawings, Newman Fine Art Ltd, fine quality British watercolours from C18th - C20th and Graham Reed with English watercolours.

Harrogate Antiques fair


Sutcliffe Gallery, Harrogate 'Sunset in the West Riding' - by Bernard Priestman. Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1943 and dramatically depicts the Lockwood Viaduct, Huddersfield. (Oil on canvas size 32" x 36”). Priced at £45,000.

Plaza Jewellery  - Mauboussin Colour Kiss Amethyst Ring - From the famous French jewellery house, Mauboussin, comes this amethyst ring, part of the Color Kiss range.  Inspired by the Art Deco designs of the 1930s, it features a 5.5ct emerald cut amethyst in a pretty pastel violet shade.  On each side are columns set with baguette cut amethysts of a paler lilac colour topped at both ends with reverse set diamonds.  The shoulders are set with 3 brilliant cut diamonds on each side.  The ring is signed Mauboussin, Paris, £2850

Michael Hunter for Twists Glass 2016 lizard magnum paperweight
The base is a large hollow blown urchin weight of 30 zanfirico canes in colours of yellow blue white and green arranged in a regular pattern with a large lizard crawling across the top. Mike's personal "MH" cane is set into the side and the base is scratch signed "M Hunter Twists 16" and has the Twists Glass studio label.
