WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT THIS FAIR:

The Derby Porcelain Society will be staging a major exhibition at the fair entitled Derby Porcelain – Artistry from the 18th Century to the Present Day’, which will feature examples from the production of all three Derby porcelain factories from c1750 to the present day and will include many rare and previously unrecorded pieces. Almost every piece will have come from private collections.

Derby is a world-renowned porcelain that was first manufactured in  the  mid-eighteenth  century  and  which  continues  in  production to the present day. Examples from the production of all three Derby porcelain factories from circa 1750 to the present day will feature in the display. In addition, the Society is preparing a full colour catalogue of the exhibits that will provide in-depth information of all the pieces on display and is sure to become a very useful reference work for the future.

Alongside the stunning display of Derby porcelain that will be showcased as part of the winter feature exhibition, Olivia Dean, chairman and secretary of the Derby Porcelain Society will take you on a journey, exploring the history behind some of the great artists who have produced those very pieces.

There will be a focus on continuity of production in Derby which continues through to today, as well as how these great factories have the ability throughout time to respond to fashion trends, meet the needs of a growing market and also delivers bespoke items for their customers.

Further attractions at the fair will be regular antiques celebrity talks throughout the event. The fair organisers work with some crowd pleasing experts, authors and TV celebrities from the antiques world, such as Will Farmer and Judith Miller and joining this edition will be another author and expert Marc Allum. Will Farmer, told Antiques News & Fairs: "This is my favourite fair. Antiques for Everyone is always busy and thousands of interested people from all areas of life come here to buy".
